1. Introduction
CamCam is a photo editor. It is designed to process your photos on your device and to collect as little information as possible. An account is optional β you only need one to use cloud AI features.
2. Information We Collect
You can use CamCam's editor without giving us any personal details. Depending on how you use CamCam, limited information may be involved:
- Photos you choose to open or take in the app (see "Your Photos").
- Preferences and edits stored locally on your device, such as favorite templates.
- Purchase status provided by Apple (see "Purchases & Subscriptions").
- Standard technical information sent with network requests, such as IP address (see "Downloaded Content").
- Device and usage information collected by our advertising partner in the free version (see "Advertising & Tracking").
- If you create an account: your email address, a unique account ID, your sign-in method, and your name if you choose to share it through Sign in with Apple (see "Your Account").
- If you use a cloud AI feature: the photo and the options or text prompt you submit, and a record of each request (see "Cloud AI Features").
- Information you send us when you contact us, such as your email address and message.
3. Your Account
You only need an account to use cloud AI features. You can sign in with email and password, Sign in with Apple or Google. Sign-in is provided by Firebase Authentication, a Google service; your password is handled by Firebase and is never sent to us.
We receive your email address (with Sign in with Apple this may be a private relay address), a unique account ID, your sign-in method and whether your email is verified. We use them to identify your account, keep track of your monthly AI credits, apply your CamCam Pro subscription and send account emails such as verification and password reset.
You can sign out at any time and delete your account in the app under Settings β Account β Delete Account. Deleting your account permanently removes your account, AI credits, request history and any stored AI results, and revokes Sign in with Apple. An App Store subscription is managed by Apple and must be cancelled separately.
4. Your Photos
CamCam only accesses photos you explicitly select with the system photo picker or take with the camera. It does not scan or upload your photo library. Photos are not uploaded to our servers except when you use a cloud AI feature, as described below.
5. On-Device Processing
Editing features β including beauty retouching, face and body adjustments, hair color, background removal and replacement, filters, adjustments, stickers and templates β run on your device using Apple frameworks such as Vision and Core Image. Face, body and hair detection results are used only to apply your edits; they are not used to identify you and are not sent to us.
6. Cloud AI Features
CamCam offers optional cloud AI features: Magic Remove in "AI" mode, AI Background and Retouch with AI. They run only when you tap them, require an account and use AI credits. All other editing, including on-device Magic Remove, stays on your iPhone.
When you use one, the app sends the photo you are editing (reduced to at most 2048 pixels, without location or other metadata), together with the area you painted, the options you chose or, for AI Background, the text you typed, to our server. Our server sends the image to OpenAI to create the result.
We do not keep the photos you upload after processing. The result is kept in our cloud storage for up to 24 hours so the app can download it, then deleted. We keep a record of each request β the feature, time, status, credits used, image dimensions and, for AI Background, your text prompt β to run the credit system, prevent abuse and keep the service reliable. The AI provider processes images under its own API terms and policies.
7. Camera & Photo Library Permissions
- Camera β only if you choose to take a photo in the app.
- Add to Photos β to save your edited photos. This permission lets CamCam add photos but not read your library.
You can change these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app.
8. Downloaded Content
CamCam may download additional content, such as templates and backgrounds. These requests do not include your photos, but, as with any internet request, the server or content delivery provider receives standard technical information such as your IP address and device type.
9. Purchases & Subscriptions
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment card details. Apple provides the app with information needed to confirm your purchase status. Apple's handling of payment information is described in Apple's privacy policy.
If you are signed in, the app sends the App Store's signed transaction information to our server so it can verify your CamCam Pro subscription with Apple and apply your monthly AI credits. Apple may also notify our server about renewals, cancellations and refunds of that subscription.
10. Analytics & Diagnostics
CamCam does not include third-party analytics SDKs. If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your iOS settings, Apple may provide us with aggregated usage statistics and crash reports, which do not include your photos.
11. Advertising & Tracking
The free version of CamCam shows banner ads provided by Google AdMob, a Google service, in the Backgrounds library and the Export screen β never over the photo you are editing. CamCam Pro subscribers see no ads, and the ad SDK is not started for them. CamCam itself does not collect advertising data.
What Google collects. To show and measure ads, limit how often you see them and prevent fraud, Google may collect device and usage information such as your IP address, approximate location derived from it, device model and settings, app information, ad interactions and diagnostic data. Your photos and edits are never shared with Google or any advertiser.
No cross-app tracking. CamCam does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission, so the device's advertising identifier (IDFA) is not available and ads are not personalized with it. Ad conversions may be measured with Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork.
Your choices. Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), CamCam asks for your consent through Google's consent tool before personalized ads are requested, and you can change your choice at any time under Settings β Privacy Choices. If your consent choice cannot be determined (for example when the consent service is unavailable), only non-personalized ads are requested. Upgrading to CamCam Pro removes all ads. Learn how Google uses information from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
12. How We Use Information
We use the limited information described above to provide and improve the app, deliver downloadable content, confirm purchases, respond to your requests, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.
14. Data Retention
Photos, edits and preferences stored on your device remain there until you delete them or the app. Deleting the app removes its local data. Messages you send us are kept only as long as needed to respond and for our records.
If you have an account, your account information, AI credit records and AI request records are kept while your account exists and are deleted when you delete your account. AI results are deleted from our storage within 24 hours, and uploaded photos are not kept after processing.
15. Security
Because editing happens on your device, your photos benefit from iOS security protections. We use reasonable measures to protect any information we receive; however, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Communication between the app and our server is encrypted (HTTPS), and each request is authenticated with a short-lived sign-in token. Our server never has access to your password.
16. Children's Privacy
CamCam is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and its ads are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
17. Your Rights & Changes
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to its processing. To make a request, contact us at hello@roxlabhq.com. We are based in Viet Nam; information we receive may be processed there.
If you have an account, you can delete it and its data yourself at any time in the app (Settings β Account β Delete Account).
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the "Last updated" date.
